How to Easily Edit PDF Documents in Word (2022)

PDF documents can be easily edited in Word. If it is a minor correction, it should be quicker to fix it yourself rather than request it. So this time, I will introduce how to edit a PDF file with Word for Microsoft 365.

1. Start Word and click [Open] → [Browse].
No special software is required to fix PDF files. Start Word and click Open > Browse.

2. Select the PDF file you want to fix
When the file selection screen appears, select the PDF file you want to modify and click [Open] to open the PDF file in Word.

3. A dialog box will appear asking you to convert the PDF to a Word document.
A dialog box will appear to inform you that the PDF will be converted to a Word document. Click OK. If you don't want to see this message again, check the "Don't show this message again" box.

4. Enable editing of PDF files converted to Word documents
When opening a PDF file downloaded from an email or chat tool in Word, it will be opened in protected view (read-only). Click Enable Editing to make edits.

5. A confirmation dialog box will appear again
When you click [Enable Editing], a dialog box appears to inform you that the document will be converted to an editable Word document again. Click [OK].

6. Fix the contents of the PDF file
A ribbon will appear and it is now possible to modify the contents of the PDF file in Word. Feel free to make any necessary modifications here.

7. When the correction is completed, [Save as]
After the modification is completed, we will save the work. Save your modifications by clicking the shortcut keys Ctrl + Shift + S or clicking Home > Save As. You can save it as a Word document, or you can save it as a PDF file by selecting "PDF" from "Save as type".

If you save both the Word document and the PDF file, you can save the trouble of converting the PDF file and use it more conveniently when you need to modify it again.
